Isaac Newton: The world will end in 2060

The physicist made this prediction at the time he was explaining the laws of gravity.

The most influential scientists of all time, Sir Isaac Newton, wrote in 1704 that the world is going to end exactly 1,260 years after the foundation of the Holy Roman Empire, in 2060.

According to his note, this apocalyptic conclusion was reached by analysing the Bible’s Book of Daniel.

It may end later, but I see no reason for its ending sooner. This I mention not to assert when the time of the end shall be, but to put a stop to the rash conjectures of fanciful men who are frequently predicting the time of the end, and by doing so bring the sacred prophesies into discredit as often as their predictions fail.”, wrote Sir Isaac Newton in his notes which are on the show in Jerusalem’s Hebrew University, according to express.co.uk.

Newton wrote in his notes conclusions based on religious criteria and not on scientific ones, adding that “the ruin of the wicked nations, the end of weeping and of all troubles, the return of the Jews (from) captivity and their setting up a flourishing and everlasting Kingdom.”

Yemima Ben-Menahem, expert in Philosophy of science, physics and history at the Jerusalem’s Hebrew University, said: “These documents show a scientist guided by religious fervour, by a desire to see God’s actions in the world.”
