World’s oldest man: Born before the Statue of Liberty dead after Trump’s presidency

At his last birthday party, while turning 146 years old, Mr. Gotho blew out all the candles in just one puff.

Mbah Gotho, an Indonesian man, from a small village in the Central Java province, born on 31 December 1870, celebrated his 146th birthday at the end of 2016 and claimed to be the oldest person to ever have lived.

Although Mbah Gotho has official documentation to prove his actual age, the documents cannot be independently verified and he can not go down in the record books, according to

The elderly Indonesian said he has been preparing for his death since 1992. He even had his gravestone made, but death didn’t came until April 30, 2017.

Asked what is his secret of a long life, Mr. Gotho replied: “The recipe is just patience.”
